Deconvolution of Subgrid-scales for the Simulation of Shock-turbulence Interaction

چکیده
We develop and compare two approaches for the proper simulation of flow discontinuities. For the filtered evolution equations the solution is smooth and can be solved for by standard difference schemes without special considerations of discontinuities. Both approaches are based on approximate deconvolution of the filtered solution to obtain a sufficiently accurate representation of the smoothed nonlinear combination of discontinuous fields, e.g., the convection term. One approach is based on a regularized direct deconvolution and requires for stable integration a secondary filter. The other approach is based on an expansion of the filtered field in terms of filter width, which is modified in the vicinity of discontinuities in order to exactly recover the filtered profile. We detail both approaches and investigate their feasibility for the inviscid Burgers equation, isothermal and full Euler equations.

A Subgrid-Scale Deconvolution Approachfor Shock Capturing
We develop a method for the modeling of flow discontinuities which can arise as weak solutions of inviscid conservation laws. Due to its similarity with recently proposed approximate deconvolution models for large-eddy simulation, the method potentially allows for a unified treatment of flow discontinuities and turbulent subgrid scales. A filtering approach is employed since for the filtered ev...

We present an algorithm for compressible Large Eddy Simulation (LES) using unstructured tetrahe-dral grids. Two methods for simulation of the sub-grid scale stresses are examined. The rst method is the Monotone Integrated Large Eddy Simulation (MILES) technique of Boris, Oran and Grinstein, whereby the energy transfer from the resolved scales to the subgrid scales is modeled using the inherent ...
متن کاملFast Numerical simulations of 2D turbulence using a dynamic model for Subgrid Motions
We present numerical simulation of 2D turbulent flow using a new model for the subgrid scales which are computed using a dynamic equation linking the subgrid scales with the resolved velocity. This equation is not postulated, but derived from the constitutive equations under the assumption that the non-linear interactions of subgrid scales between themselves are equivalent to a turbulent viscos...

Turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubic obstacles has been numerically investigated using large-eddy simulation. The simulations have been performed using high-performance computations with local cluster systems. The array of cubes are fully submerged in a simulated deep rough-wall atmospheric boundary-layer with high turbulence intensity characteristics of environmental turbulent fl...
متن کاملAnalysis and modeling of subgrid scalar mixing using numerical data
Direct numerical simulations (DNS) of passive scalar mixing in isotropic turbulence is used to study, analyze and, subsequently, model the role of small (subgrid) scales in the mixing process. In particular, we attempt to model the dissipation of the large scale (supergrid) scalar uctuations caused by the subgrid scales by decomposing it into two parts: (i) the e ect due to the interaction amon...
